Possible Causes

Failed heater element, Tripped high-limit, Faulty heater relay on control board, Insufficient water flow through heater

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the GFCI before testing heater circuits.

  • Confirm mode and setpoint: Ensure spa is in Standard mode and set temperature is higher than current water temperature.
  • Check for flow errors: Resolve any FLO, HL, or OH codes first, as these will disable heating.
  • Inspect heater connections: In the equipment bay, verify that heater terminals are tight and free of corrosion.
  • Test heater resistance: With power OFF and wires removed from heater terminals, measure resistance across the heater element. Typical values are 8–15Ω for a 3–4 kW heater. Infinite or zero ohms indicates a bad element.
  • Replace heater: If the element is faulty, drain spa below heater level, remove unions, and install a new Canadian Spa Company-compatible heater assembly with new gaskets.

If the heater tests good but never receives voltage when calling for heat, the control pack relay or board is likely defective and should be replaced.
