Possible Causes
Loose pump or heater unions, Cracked PVC fittings or manifolds, Failed pump shaft seal, Leaking heater tube or pressure switch fitting
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before inspecting leaks. Wet electrical components are dangerous.
- Step 1 – Identify source: Remove the equipment bay panel and use a flashlight to trace the leak. Look for drips on unions, pump housings, heater tube, and manifolds.
- Step 2 – Tighten unions: Hand-tighten pump and heater unions. Do not overtighten with tools, as this can crack fittings.
- Step 3 – Check o-rings: If a union continues to leak, shut off power, drain below the union, and inspect/replace the union o-ring.
- Step 4 – Pump seal: Water leaking from the motor-pump interface usually indicates a failed shaft seal. Replace the pump wet end or complete pump assembly.
- Step 5 – Structural leaks: If water appears from foam-insulated areas away from equipment, a jet body or manifold may be leaking and requires professional access and repair.
