Possible Causes
Burned-out heater element in Coast Spas heater tube, Tripped high-limit that will not reset, Loose heater wiring connections, Failed heater relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker and verify no voltage before touching heater terminals.
- Check heater indicator: On many Coast Spas control packs, a heater LED indicates when the board is calling for heat. If the LED is off, the issue may be control-related rather than the heater itself.
- Inspect wiring: Ensure heater wires are tight at both the control pack and heater terminals.
- Test heater resistance: Disconnect heater wires and measure resistance across the heater terminals with a multimeter. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
- Replace heater assembly: If the element is open or shorted to ground, replace the complete Coast Spas heater assembly with the correct wattage and length.
- Retest: Restore power and verify that the spa begins to heat and gains temperature over several hours.
