Possible Causes
Repeated dry-fire detection by control pack, Severely restricted flow through heater, Heater element damaged from running dry, Control pack lockout after multiple dr events
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker. Do not attempt to repeatedly reset and run the spa with a dY error.
Correct underlying dry condition:
- Confirm water level and filter condition: Ensure the spa is full and the filter is clean or temporarily removed for testing.
- Bleed all air: Open pump and heater unions slightly until water flows steadily, then retighten. Run the pump on low speed to purge remaining air.
- Inspect heater and plumbing: Look for kinks, collapsed hoses, or closed slice valves that could block flow to the heater.
- Check pump performance: Verify that the pump is not air-bound and that there is strong flow from the heater return.
- Reset control pack: After correcting issues, leave power OFF for at least 5–10 minutes to allow the control pack to clear the lockout. Restore power and monitor.
- If dY returns: The heater element may be damaged or the control pack may have a persistent fault. Have a spa technician test heater resistance and replace the heater or control pack as needed.
