Possible Causes

Restricted water flow through heater, Dirty or clogged filter cartridge, Failing circulation pump or air lock, High-limit sensor tripping prematurely

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker before removing filters or opening the equipment bay.

Restore proper flow:

  • Check water level: Top up water to the recommended level on the skimmer.
  • Clean filter: Remove the filter cartridge and run the spa briefly without it (with power restored) to see if HL clears. If it does, replace the filter with a new Dream Maker-compatible cartridge.
  • Bleed air: If the spa was recently drained, bleed air from the pump unions or bleed screw until a steady stream of water appears.
  • Verify pump performance: With power ON, confirm that the primary pump or circulation pump is running and that there is strong flow from the jets and heater return. A noisy or not-starting pump may need replacement.
  • Inspect high-limit sensor: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the heater tube and not covered in scale or debris. Replace the sensor if it appears damaged or if HL recurs after all flow issues are corrected.
  • Reset: After correcting issues, power cycle the spa. If HL returns quickly, have a technician check the heater and control pack for internal faults.
