Possible Causes
Water intrusion in heater or pump, Shorted heater element to ground, Shorted jet or circulation pump motor, Damaged wiring harness in equipment bay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Frequent GFCI tripping indicates a potentially dangerous fault. If you are not experienced with electrical testing, contact a qualified spa technician or electrician.
Basic isolation steps:
- Visual inspection: With power OFF, open the equipment bay and look for obvious water leaks, burnt wires, or melted connectors.
- Disconnect components one at a time: With power OFF, disconnect the heater wires from the control pack, then restore power. If the GFCI no longer trips, the heater is likely faulty. Repeat with pumps and ozonator to isolate the faulty device.
- Check for moisture: Inspect the control pack and topside cable connections for moisture. Dry thoroughly and correct any leaks.
- Replace faulty part: Replace the heater, pump, or other component that causes tripping when connected. Ensure replacements are Dream Maker-compatible.
- Do not bypass GFCI: Never bypass or replace the GFCI with a standard breaker to stop nuisance trips; this defeats critical safety protection.
