Possible Causes
Stuck heater relay on control board, Temperature sensor out of calibration, Pump not circulating water during heating, Cover left on in hot ambient conditions
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Do not use the spa until the cause of overheating is identified.
- Remove cover and cool water: Remove the Everlast spa cover to allow heat to escape. Let the water cool below 100°F (38°C) before restoring power.
- Verify circulation: With power restored, ensure the primary jet pump or Everlast circulation pump runs when the heater icon is on. If the pump is not running, troubleshoot the pump, pump relay, or control pack.
- Check temperature setting: Confirm the set temperature on the Everlast Spas topside control is not set excessively high.
- Sensor comparison: Many Everlast packs use a pair of sensors (temperature and high-limit). If available in diagnostics, compare readings; if they differ by more than a few degrees, one sensor may be faulty and should be replaced.
- Heater relay test: If the heater continues to heat with pumps off or when the spa is in standby, the heater relay on the Everlast Spas control board may be stuck closed. This is a serious fault and typically requires control board replacement by a qualified technician.
