Possible Causes
Heater energized without water flow, Severe air lock, Failed circulation pump, Control board misfiring heater relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Immediately shut off power at the GFCI breaker. A dry heater can overheat and become a fire hazard.
- Inspect for leaks: Check the heater area and plumbing for signs of leaks that could have drained water from the heater tube.
- Verify water level: Refill the spa to the proper level if low.
- Bleed and prime: Bleed air from pump and heater unions, then prime the circulation system as described in the owner's manual.
- Reset and monitor: Restore power and monitor closely. If dy returns quickly, the heater element may be damaged or the control board may be energizing the heater at the wrong time.
Due to the risk of heater damage, have a qualified spa technician test the heater element and control board before further use.
