Possible Causes

Flow switch stuck in closed position, Shorted flow switch wiring, Incorrect flow switch installation or plumbing orientation, Control board input fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Shut off power at the GFCI breaker before opening the equipment compartment.

  • Inspect flow switch orientation: Locate the flow switch near the heater. Confirm the arrow on the body points in the direction of water flow. If installed backwards, it can cause false closed readings.
  • Check for debris: With power OFF and water level maintained, remove the flow switch from the plumbing (if accessible) and inspect the paddle or plunger for debris or scale buildup. Rinse gently and reinstall with new Teflon tape if threaded.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the flow switch cable to the control pack. Ensure the connector is fully seated and the cable is not pinched or damaged.
  • Reset power: Restore power and observe if FL2 clears. If the code returns immediately, the switch may be shorted or the control board input may be faulty.

Do not bypass the flow switch for normal operation; it is a critical safety device. Replace the flow switch or contact a spa technician if the problem persists.
