Possible Causes
Disconnected temperature sensor, Failed sensor, Control board not reading sensor input, Moisture in control box
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI before opening the control box.
- 1. Inspect sensor connections: Open the control box and verify that the temperature sensor plug is fully seated and oriented correctly on the board.
- 2. Check for moisture: Look for condensation or water inside the control box. Dry carefully with a clean cloth and allow time to air dry before re-energizing.
- 3. Examine cable: Follow the sensor cable for damage or disconnection at the heater.
- 4. Power cycle: Restore power and see if the display returns to a normal temperature reading.
If the display continues to show dashes, the sensor or control board may need replacement. Have a technician test resistance of the sensor.
