Possible Causes
Water temperature near freezing, Ambient temperature sensor detecting low temperature, Spa cover off in winter, Power cycling in cold conditions
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: ICE or freeze protection is a normal safety function to prevent plumbing damage.
- 1. Keep spa powered: Do not shut off power in freezing weather; the system needs power to circulate and protect the spa.
- 2. Use the cover: Keep the Freeflow cover on and latched to retain heat and reduce run time.
- 3. Verify water level: Ensure water level is adequate so pumps do not draw air while running for freeze protection.
- 4. Check for actual freezing: Inspect equipment bay and exposed plumbing for ice. If ice is present, use indirect heat (space heater nearby, not blowing directly on plastic) to gradually thaw.
If ICE remains displayed in above-freezing conditions, a sensor may be misreading. Have a technician test the temperature sensors.
