Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing the equipment compartment panel.
- Inspect filter and water level: Confirm the water level is correct and the Hanscraft filter cartridge is clean. Low flow through the heater will keep the flow switch open.
- Check pump operation: With the panel open and power restored, start the main pump on low speed. Verify strong flow from all jets. Weak flow indicates a failing pump or blocked suction.
- Locate the flow/pressure switch: It is typically installed on or near the heater tube. Inspect wiring for loose or corroded connections and reseat the connectors firmly.
- Test the switch (basic check): With power OFF, disconnect the two wires from the flow switch and check continuity with a multimeter while manually actuating the switch (if accessible). It should close when actuated. If it remains open, the switch is likely faulty.
- Do NOT bypass permanently: Never leave the heater operating with a bypassed safety switch. Temporary bypass for testing should only be done by a qualified technician.
If cleaning the filter and confirming good flow does not clear F2, replace the flow/pressure switch or contact a Hanscraft service technician.
