Possible Causes
Failed temperature sensor, Loose sensor connection on control board, Damaged sensor cable, Sensor not fully inserted in heater well
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing sensors or the control pack.
- Locate the temperature sensor: On most Hanscraft spas, the main water temperature sensor is inserted into a dry well on the heater tube or plumbed inline.
- Check seating: Ensure the sensor probe is fully inserted into the well and secured with its retaining clip or nut.
- Inspect wiring: Trace the sensor cable back to the control board. Look for cuts, abrasions, or rodent damage. Reseat the connector on the board.
- Compare temperature: With power restored, compare the displayed temperature to an accurate thermometer placed in the spa water. A large discrepancy suggests a faulty sensor.
If F9 persists or readings are unstable, replace the Hanscraft temperature sensor with the correct part number specified for your control system.
