Possible Causes

High combined chlorine or bromamines, Low pH, Overdosing of sanitizer, Inadequate ventilation for indoor installations

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Health caution: Limit exposure until water chemistry is corrected.

  • Test water: Check free and combined chlorine/bromine, pH, and alkalinity.
  • Shock and aerate: If combined chlorine is high, shock the spa and run jets with the cover open to allow gases to dissipate.
  • Adjust pH: Bring pH into the 7.2–7.6 range using pH increaser or decreaser as needed.

For indoor Hanscraft spas, ensure adequate room ventilation to prevent buildup of chemical vapors.
