Possible Causes
High-limit sensor tripped, Temperature sensor out of calibration, Pump running continuously in hot weather, Blocked spa cover vents trapping heat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Do not use the spa until the water cools to a safe temperature.
- Remove spa cover: Allow the spa to cool with the cover off for several hours. Verify that the water temperature drops below the set point.
- Check for stuck pumps: Once cooled, restore power and observe if any jet pumps run continuously even when not commanded. A stuck relay on the IQ control board can cause overheating.
- Inspect temperature and high-limit sensors: Locate the thermistor sensors threaded into the heater or plumbing. Ensure they are fully seated and not damaged. Loose or corroded sensor connections can cause false OH readings.
- Verify set temperature: Confirm the set temperature on the control panel is reasonable (e.g., 100–102°F). Lower it temporarily and monitor.
If OH returns quickly or pumps run unexpectedly, shut off power and contact a technician to test the sensors and control board.
