Possible Causes
Stuck or welded heater relay on Hydropool control board, Open heater relay coil, Burned relay contacts due to high current, Loose heater wiring at control pack
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker. High voltage is present at the heater terminals; only qualified persons should test live circuits.
- Visual inspection: Remove the control pack cover and inspect the board for burned areas, darkened relay housings, or melted insulation near the heater terminals.
- Check heater wiring: Ensure heater wires are tight at both the heater element and control board terminals. Loose connections can overheat and damage relays.
- Continuity test (power OFF): Disconnect heater leads and test the heater element for proper resistance (typically 8–15 ohms depending on wattage). A shorted or open element can stress relays.
- Professional relay/board service: If the heater tests good but PRR remains, the control board relay is likely faulty. Board-level repair or replacement should be performed by a Hydropool service technician.
