Possible Causes
Primary and secondary sensors reading different temperatures, Loose sensor connectors on Hydropool control pack, One or both thermistors failing, Incorrect replacement sensor installed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power at the GFCI before opening the control pack.
- Power cycle: Turn the spa OFF for several minutes and then ON to see if SE clears.
- Inspect both sensors: Locate both heater sensors (primary and high-limit). Confirm they are fully inserted and their cables are intact.
- Check connectors: On the control board, unplug and replug both sensor connectors, ensuring they are in the correct labeled sockets.
- Compare resistances: With both sensors unplugged and water at a stable temperature, measure resistance of each. They should be very similar. A large difference indicates a failing sensor.
- Replace faulty sensor(s): Install Hydropool-approved sensors in matched pairs if necessary to avoid mismatch errors.
- Board issue: If sensors test good but SE persists, the control board's sensor circuit may be defective and require replacement by a technician.
