Possible Causes
Water intrusion into Hydropool pump motor, Shorted heater element to ground, Damaged ozone generator, Faulty light transformer or LED driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Repeated tripping indicates a potentially dangerous fault. Do not bypass or replace the GFCI with a non-GFCI breaker.
- Visual inspection: With power OFF, open the equipment bay and look for obvious water leaks onto electrical components, burned wires, or melted connectors.
- Component isolation (advanced): A technician can disconnect suspected components (heater, pumps, blower, ozonator, lights) one at a time and re-energize the spa to see when the GFCI stops tripping.
- Heater test: Use a megohmmeter (insulation tester) to check the heater element for leakage to ground. Any significant leakage requires heater replacement.
- Dry and repair leaks: Fix any plumbing leaks that are dripping onto electrical parts before replacing components.
