Possible Causes

Ground fault detected by built-in RCD/GFCI, Damaged power cord or plug, Moisture inside heater pump unit, Short circuit in heater or pump motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: If the RCD/GFCI trips repeatedly, do not continue resetting it. This indicates a potential shock hazard.

  • 1. Inspect the power cord and plug:
    • Unplug the spa and examine the cord for cuts, burns, or crushed sections.
    • If any damage is found, do not use the spa until the cord/plug assembly is replaced.
  • 2. Dry the unit:
    • Check that the heater pump unit is not sitting in standing water.
    • Move it to a dry, level surface and allow 24 hours to dry if it has been exposed to heavy moisture.
  • 3. Reset the RCD/GFCI:
    • Press TEST, then RESET on the plug.
    • Plug into a known-good outlet and try powering on.
  • If E98 or tripping persists: There may be an internal ground fault in the heater, pump, or PCB. Do not attempt internal repairs unless qualified; contact Intex or a licensed electrician/technician.
