Possible Causes

Air lock in heater manifold, Closed slice valves isolating heater, Very low water level, Circulation pump not primed

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power before loosening any unions or valves.

  • Verify water level: Fill the spa so that water is above all jets and suction fittings.
  • Open all valves: Ensure all slice valves around the pump and heater are fully pulled up/open. A partially closed valve can starve the heater.
  • Prime the pump: Loosen the union on the pump discharge or heater inlet until air escapes and water begins to drip, then retighten. Some pumps have a dedicated bleed screw—open it briefly to release air.
  • Restart the spa: Restore power and run the pump on low speed to confirm steady flow before the heater engages.

If the dr error persists, the circulation pump may be too weak to push water through the heater and should be tested or replaced.
