Possible Causes
One or more sensors out of range, Incorrect sensor type installed, Loose sensor connectors, Control board sensor circuit failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before opening the control box.
- Identify sensors: LA Spas typically uses a spa temperature sensor and a high limit sensor on the heater tube. Confirm both are connected firmly to the control board.
- Inspect for damage: Look for cuts, abrasions, or rodent damage on sensor cables.
- Check resistance (advanced): Using a multimeter and sensor resistance chart, verify that each sensor's resistance matches the approximate water temperature. Replace any sensor that is far out of range.
- Replace control board if needed: If known‑good sensors still trigger SE, the control board may need replacement.
