LA Spas Excess Surfactants / Contaminants in Water

Spa water is foamy, with bubbles that persist on the surface even when jets are off.

Possible Causes

High levels of body oils, soaps, or detergents from users, Low calcium hardness, Old or saturated water, Dirty filter

Safety: Use spa chemicals as directed and keep them away from children and pets.

Test and balance water: Check pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness. Adjust to LA Spas recommended ranges.
Use foam reducer: Add a small amount of spa defoamer to temporarily reduce foam.
Clean filter: Rinse or deep‑clean the filter to remove trapped oils.
Partial drain: If foam persists, drain 25–50% of the water and refill with fresh water, then rebalance.
