Possible Causes
Dirty or undersized filter cartridge, High bather load without adequate sanitiser, Imbalanced water chemistry (high pH, high alkalinity), Biofilm buildup in plumbing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not use the spa if water is visibly contaminated or has an unpleasant odor.
- 1. Replace filters: Install a new Lay‑Z‑Spa filter cartridge and run filtration continuously for several hours.
- 2. Test and balance water: Use test strips to check pH, alkalinity, and sanitiser (chlorine/bromine) levels. Adjust according to Lay‑Z‑Spa guidelines.
- 3. Shock the water: Add a spa shock treatment to oxidize organic contaminants, following product dosing instructions.
- 4. Run filtration: Run the filter pump for extended periods (8–24 hours) until water clears.
- If water remains cloudy: Drain, clean the liner and plumbing with a spa system flush product, rinse thoroughly, and refill with fresh balanced water.
