Possible Causes
Low water level in spa, Air lock in heater manifold, Clogged filter restricting flow, Failed or blocked circulation pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker immediately to prevent heater damage.
- Check water level: Refill the spa to the recommended level, ensuring all suction fittings are submerged.
- Bleed air from heater: Loosen the unions on each side of the heater tube slightly until water seeps out, then retighten. This removes trapped air that can cause a dry condition.
- Clean or remove filter: Remove the Lifesmart filter cartridge and clean thoroughly. Test the spa briefly without the filter to see if the dr code clears.
- Verify pump operation: With power restored, ensure the circulation or main pump is moving water through the heater. If the pump is not running or is noisy and not moving water, it may need replacement.
- Persistent dr errors: Do not continue to reset and run the heater dry. Have a technician inspect the heater element and circulation system.
