Possible Causes
Seized pump 1 motor, Blocked impeller on pump 1, Tripped thermal overload in pump, Loose or burnt pump wiring at control pack
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker before touching the pump or wiring.
- Check for obstructions: Remove the spa filter and inspect suction fittings for debris that could overload the pump.
- Inspect pump wiring: Open the equipment bay and verify that the Pump 1 wires are securely connected to the control pack and not burnt.
- Spin the shaft: With power off, try to rotate the pump shaft (often accessible at the rear of the motor) with a screwdriver. If it is seized, the pump needs replacement.
- Cool down: If the pump shut off after running, allow it to cool for 30–60 minutes and try again. A recurring thermal trip indicates a failing motor or restricted flow.
- Replace pump: If P1 errors persist, replace the Pump 1 assembly with an OEM-compatible Lifesmart jet pump.
