Possible Causes
Water leak onto heater or control board, Shorted heater element to ground, Shorted pump motor, Damaged wiring insulation in equipment bay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping GFCI. Risk of electric shock is present. Only qualified persons should perform electrical tests.
- Visual inspection: With power off, open the equipment bay and look for obvious water leaks, burnt components, or melted wiring.
- Isolate components: Disconnect the heater, then restore power. If the breaker no longer trips, the heater is likely shorted. Repeat isolation with pumps and ozonator to identify the faulty component.
- Repair leaks: Fix any plumbing leaks that may be dripping onto electrical parts before replacing components.
- Replace failed part: Replace the shorted heater, pump, or other component with an OEM-compatible Lifesmart part.
- Call a professional: If you are not experienced with electrical troubleshooting, contact a licensed spa technician or electrician.
