Possible Causes

Loose pump or heater unions, Cracked PVC fittings, Failed pump shaft seal, Split heater tube or manifold

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker. Avoid standing water around electrical components.

  • Locate leak source: Remove the equipment bay door and use a flashlight to inspect while the spa is filled. Look for drips around pump unions, heater unions, and PVC joints.
  • Tighten unions: Hand-tighten pump and heater unions. Do not overtighten with tools, as this can crack fittings.
  • Check pump seal: If water appears at the bottom of the pump motor or between the wet end and motor, the shaft seal is likely leaking. The wet end or entire pump should be rebuilt or replaced.
  • Repair PVC fittings: For cracked elbows or tees, drain the spa below the leak, cut out the damaged section, and glue in new Marquis-compatible PVC fittings using appropriate PVC cement.

After repairs, refill and monitor for additional leaks. Persistent or hidden leaks in foam-insulated areas may require professional leak detection.
