Possible Causes

Heater running without adequate water, Severe air lock, Completely blocked filters, Failed circulation or primary pump

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power immediately at the GFCI breaker to prevent heater damage.

  • Inspect water level and leaks: Confirm the spa is filled to the proper level and check for obvious leaks around the pump and heater area.
  • Remove filters: Take out all filters and attempt to run the spa after restoring power. If dY clears, replace the filters with new Master Spas filter cartridges.
  • Prime pumps: Loosen pump unions to release trapped air, then retighten. Restart the spa and check for strong flow.
  • Check circulation pump: Ensure the circulation pump is running and not seized. Replace if it is hot to the touch, noisy, or not moving water.
  • Inspect heater: If the heater has run dry, it may be damaged (burnt smell, discoloration). In that case, replace the heater assembly before further use.
  • Persistent dY: If flow is good and filters are clean, the flow detection circuit or pressure switch may be faulty. Have a technician test and replace as needed.
