Possible Causes
Cracked pump union or heater union, Failed pump shaft seal, Split PVC plumbing, Leaking jet body or manifold
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and do not run the spa with a known leak; running dry can damage pumps and heater.
- Locate source: Remove the equipment bay panel and use a flashlight to trace the leak. Look for drips at unions, pump seals, and heater connections.
- Tighten unions: Hand-tighten pump and heater unions. Do not overtighten with tools, as this can crack the fittings.
- Replace o-rings: If unions still leak, drain the spa below the leak level, disassemble the union, and replace the o-ring with a compatible Master Spas union o-ring.
- Pump seal leak: If water is leaking from between the pump wet end and motor, the shaft seal has failed. Replace the pump wet end or shaft seal kit.
- Hidden leaks: For leaks in foam-insulated plumbing or jet bodies, it may be necessary to remove cabinet panels and foam. This is typically a job for an experienced spa technician.
