Possible Causes
Shorted heater element to ground, Water intrusion in pump motor, Shorted ozonator or UV unit, Damaged wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping GFCI. This indicates a potentially dangerous fault. Turn off power and leave it off while troubleshooting.
- Visual inspection: Open the equipment bay and look for obvious signs of water leaks, burnt wires, or charred components.
- Isolate components: With power OFF, disconnect non-essential loads one at a time (ozone, UV, blower, pumps) from the control pack. Restore power and see if the breaker holds. Reconnect components one by one to identify the faulty circuit.
- Heater test: The heater is a common cause. Disconnect heater wires and test. If the breaker no longer trips, replace the heater assembly.
- Pump inspection: Check pump motors for water in the motor housing or severe rust. Replace any pump showing signs of internal water damage.
- Call a professional: If you are not comfortable isolating electrical components, contact a licensed spa technician or electrician.
