Possible Causes
Seized Pump 1 motor, Blocked impeller on Pump 1, Shorted Pump 1 windings, Loose or burned Pump 1 connector at control pack
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power at the GFCI breaker before touching any pump or wiring.
- Check for obstructions: Remove the front panel and inspect Pump 1. Ensure nothing is lodged in the wet end and that the impeller can turn by hand (with power OFF).
- Inspect wiring: Verify that the Pump 1 plug is fully seated in the correct receptacle on the control pack and that there are no burn marks.
- Test operation: Restore power and briefly press the Pump 1 button. If the breaker trips immediately, the motor may be shorted.
- Replace Pump 1 if failed: Shut power OFF, close slice valves, disconnect unions and electrical plug, remove the pump, and install a new OEM Michael Phelps/ Master Spas-compatible 2-speed jet pump. Reopen valves and bleed air before restarting.
