Possible Causes

Temperature and high-limit sensors reading too far apart, Loose sensor connections, One sensor failing or out of calibration, Water not circulating evenly around sensors

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn OFF power at the GFCI breaker.

  • Inspect both sensors: Locate the primary temperature sensor and high-limit sensor on the heater manifold. Ensure both are fully seated and tight.
  • Check connectors: Unplug and replug both sensor connectors at the control pack, inspecting for corrosion or moisture.
  • Verify flow: Make sure there is good water flow through the heater so both sensors see similar temperatures. Clean filters and bleed air if needed.
  • Replace suspect sensor: If one sensor shows obvious damage or tests out of spec, replace it with an OEM Michael Phelps/ Master Spas-compatible sensor.

If SE remains after sensor replacement and flow verification, the control board’s sensor circuitry may be faulty.
