Possible Causes

Open or burned-out heater element, Tripped high-limit or thermal fuse on heater, Loose heater wires at control pack, Corroded heater terminals

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn OFF power at the GFCI breaker and verify no voltage is present.

  • Confirm demand for heat: Set the temperature several degrees above current water temperature and ensure the heater indicator icon appears on the topside.
  • Inspect heater connections: Open the equipment bay and locate the stainless steel heater tube attached to the control pack. Check that both heater wires are securely fastened to the heater terminals and the board.
  • Check for visible damage: Look for burn marks, melted insulation, or corrosion at the heater terminals.
  • Test heater element (with meter): Disconnect heater wires and measure resistance across the heater terminals. Typical values are 8–15 ohms depending on wattage. Infinite resistance indicates an open element.
  • Replace heater assembly if failed: Drain the spa below heater level, loosen heater unions, disconnect wiring, and remove the heater. Install a new OEM Michael Phelps/ Master Spas-compatible heater assembly, reconnect unions and wiring, then refill and bleed air.
