Pump motor overheating due to seized bearings, Loose electrical connections causing arcing, Control board component failure, Melted wiring insulation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Immediately turn OFF power at the breaker and do not use the spa until the source is identified.
- Visual inspection: Open the equipment bay and look for discoloration, melted plastic, or smoke residue on pumps, wiring, and the control pack.
- Check pump motors: Feel for excessive heat (after cooling) and listen for grinding or humming when last operated.
- Tighten connections (qualified only): Loose lugs at the control pack or breaker can overheat. Have a qualified technician tighten and inspect all high-current connections.
- Replace damaged components: Any burned pump, wiring harness, or control board should be replaced with OEM Michael Phelps/ Master Spas-compatible parts.
