Possible Causes

Loose internal harness between keypad and main PCB, Moisture on control PCB, Damaged keypad membrane on MSPA control panel, Faulty main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the spa before opening any control housings.

  • Power cycle: Disconnect power for at least 10 minutes, then reconnect. Sometimes E8 is triggered by transient electrical noise.
  • Inspect control panel cable: On MSPA models with a separate wired controller, check the cable from the keypad to the motor/control unit. Ensure it is fully plugged in and not pinched or cut.
  • Open control box: Remove the cover of the motor/control unit. Inspect the main PCB for signs of moisture, corrosion, or burnt components. If moisture is present, dry gently with a soft cloth and allow to air dry thoroughly.
  • Check connectors: Reseat all multi‑pin connectors between the PCB, display, and keypad. Look for bent pins or green corrosion.
  • Replace faulty module: If E8 persists, replace the MSPA control panel/keypad if it shows signs of water ingress or unresponsive buttons. If the keypad is fine, the main control PCB likely needs replacement.
