Possible Causes
Moisture inside motor/control unit, Water leak onto heater or pump terminals, Damaged insulation on internal wiring, Faulty GFCI/RCD plug on MSPA power cord
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This is a potential electric shock hazard. Do not use the spa until the fault is resolved.
- Inspect for leaks: Check around the motor/control unit, heater connections, and pump unions for any signs of water. Tighten hose clamps and replace O‑rings or gaskets as needed.
- Dry the unit: If moisture is found inside the control housing, disconnect power, open the housing, and dry thoroughly with towels and air. Do not power up until completely dry.
- Check GFCI/RCD plug: Test the built‑in GFCI/RCD on the MSPA power cord by pressing TEST and then RESET. If it will not reset or trips immediately with no visible leaks, the plug may be faulty and should be replaced.
- Inspect wiring: Look for damaged insulation, burn marks, or exposed conductors on internal wiring. Replace any damaged harnesses.
- Professional insulation test: If F8 persists, a technician should perform an insulation resistance test on the heater and pump to identify leakage paths. Replace the leaking component (often the heater) as required.
