Possible Causes

Seized pump 1 motor, Shorted pump 1 wiring, Failed pump relay on control board, Incorrect voltage configuration for pump 1

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker before working on pumps or wiring.

  • Step 1 – Try to run pump 1: With power on, press the JETS 1 button and listen. A loud hum with no rotation suggests a seized motor; immediate breaker trip suggests a short.
  • Step 2 – Inspect wiring: With power off, check the pump 1 cable from the motor to the control pack for damage or loose connections.
  • Step 3 – Check for shaft rotation: Remove the rear motor cover and attempt to turn the shaft by hand with power off. If it is stuck, the pump may be seized.
  • Step 4 – Test motor windings: Use a multimeter to check resistance between motor leads and to ground. Very low resistance or continuity to ground indicates a shorted motor.
  • Step 5 – Replace pump or motor: If the motor is seized or shorted, replace the pump 1 assembly with a Nordic-specified pump.
  • Step 6 – Evaluate control board: If the pump tests good but never receives power, the pump 1 relay on the control board may be defective.
