Possible Causes
One or both temperature sensors out of range, Sensor harness damage, Moisture in sensor connectors, Control board sensor circuit fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the GFCI breaker before working on sensors or the control pack.
- Step 1 – Power reset: Turn off power for 5–10 minutes, then restore. If SE returns immediately, proceed to sensor inspection.
- Step 2 – Inspect both sensors: Locate the two sensors on the heater tube (water temp and high-limit). Check for corrosion, loose clips, or physical damage.
- Step 3 – Check harness and connectors: Follow the sensor cables to the control board. Look for pinched or chewed wires. Reseat connectors and dry any moisture.
- Step 4 – Compare temperature readings: If the spa will run, compare displayed temperature to an external thermometer. Large discrepancies indicate a bad sensor.
- Step 5 – Replace suspect sensor(s): Replace the sensor that appears faulty with a Nordic-compatible part. If unsure, many technicians replace both sensors as a pair.
- Step 6 – Evaluate control board: If new sensors do not clear SE, the control board may have a failed sensor input and require replacement.
