Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker. Do not repeatedly reset and run the heater dry.
- Inspect circulation plumbing: Open the equipment bay and check hoses to and from the circulation pump and heater for kinks, collapse, or closed valves.
- Confirm pump operation: With power briefly restored, listen and feel for the circulation pump running. If it is silent or just hums, it may be seized and require replacement.
- Bleed and reprime: Turn power OFF again, loosen pump and heater unions to release air, then retighten and refill water if needed.
- Check for leaks: Look for water under the heater or pump that might indicate a leak causing air ingestion.
If DY persists after restoring flow and bleeding air, the heater element may be damaged and should be tested and replaced by a spa technician.
