Possible Causes
Open or shorted high-limit sensor, Loose sensor in heater manifold, Corroded sensor plug, Control board sensor circuit fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker before working in the equipment bay.
- Locate high-limit sensor: Find the sensor mounted on or inserted into the heater tube. It usually has a separate plug on the control pack labeled HI-LIMIT or SENSOR2.
- Check seating: Ensure the sensor bulb or probe is fully inserted into its well or firmly clamped to the heater tube, with good contact.
- Inspect wiring and plug: Unplug the sensor from the control pack, inspect for corrosion or moisture, clean and dry if necessary, then reconnect securely.
- Replace sensor if needed: If SN2 persists after reset and wiring checks, replace the high-limit sensor with a compatible Passion Spas / Balboa-style sensor.
If a new sensor does not resolve SN2, the control pack’s sensor input may be defective and should be evaluated by a spa technician.
