Possible Causes
Heater element overheated due to running without adequate water, Severely restricted flow, Failed heater element after dry-fire event
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and allow the spa to cool before inspection.
- Correct flow issues first: Ensure water level is correct, filters are clean, and all valves are open. Bleed air from pump and heater unions.
- Visual heater inspection: Remove the equipment panel and inspect the RivieraPool heater tube and terminals. Look for burnt marks, melted insulation, or bulging.
- Electrical test (advanced): With power OFF and wires disconnected from the heater, measure resistance across the heater terminals using a multimeter. A very high or infinite reading indicates a failed element.
- Replace heater if failed: If the heater is open or visibly damaged, replace the RivieraPool heater assembly with a compatible unit. Ensure all O-rings and unions are properly sealed to prevent leaks.
- Reset lockout: After correcting the issue, restore power. Some RivieraPool control packs require a full power-cycle to clear dY/DRY; consult your model's manual.
