Possible Causes
High-limit sensor detecting localized overheating, Scale buildup inside heater tube, Weak circulation pump causing low flow, Dirty filter restricting flow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power if you smell burning or see steam from the equipment bay.
- Clean filter and check water level: Remove and rinse the RivieraPool filter cartridge. Ensure water level is correct.
- Check for scale: If you have hard water, scale can form inside the heater tube. Inspect the heater for white, chalky deposits. Consider using a spa descaler product according to RivieraPool's water care guidelines.
- Verify pump performance: With power ON, run the circulation and jet pumps. Confirm strong flow from heater return jets. If flow is weak, the circulation pump impeller may be partially blocked or the pump may be failing.
- Reset and monitor: After cleaning and verifying flow, power-cycle the spa at the breaker. Monitor temperature rise. If HL returns quickly, replace the RivieraPool high-limit sensor.
- Persistent HL: If the new sensor does not resolve the issue, the heater element may be overheating due to internal damage, requiring replacement of the RivieraPool heater assembly.
