Possible Causes

Open or shorted temperature sensor, Corroded sensor connector at control board, Damaged sensor cable from rodent or mechanical abrasion

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing the control pack.

  • Locate the sensor: Find the RivieraPool primary temperature sensor inserted into the heater tube or spa shell. Follow its cable to the control board.
  • Inspect wiring: Check for cuts, chew marks, or pinched sections. Ensure the plug is fully seated on the control board and free of corrosion.
  • Clean connector: If light corrosion is present, disconnect power, unplug the sensor, and gently clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner. Reconnect firmly.
  • Compare temperature reading: If your control panel shows a water temperature that is clearly wrong (e.g., 0°C or 48°C when water is lukewarm), the sensor is likely failed.
  • Replace sensor: Order a compatible RivieraPool temperature sensor. With power OFF, remove the old sensor from the heater tube (some may require loosening a retaining nut). Install the new sensor, ensuring the O-ring seats properly to prevent leaks, then reconnect to the control board.
  • Test: Restore power and verify that the error clears and temperature readings are reasonable.
