Possible Causes

Moisture inside pump/heater electronics compartment, Damaged heater element insulation, Cracked pump/heater housing allowing water ingress

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: If the GFCI trips repeatedly, do not continue to reset it. Unplug the spa immediately. Water and electricity together are extremely dangerous.

  • Visual inspection: Check the exterior of the pump/heater unit for cracks, leaks, or signs of water inside the housing (fogged display, condensation).
  • Dry environment: Move the pump/heater unit to a dry, sheltered location. Allow it to dry for 24–48 hours. Do not use heat guns or hair dryers directly on the housing.
  • Check connections: Ensure all hose connections to the pump/heater are tight and O-rings are in place to prevent leaks onto the electronics.
  • Test GFCI: After drying, plug the spa in and test the GFCI using its TEST and RESET buttons. If it will not reset, the cord set may be faulty.
  • Retest operation: Fill the spa to the correct level and run filtration only. If the GFCI trips when heater or bubbles are turned on, there is likely a ground fault in the heater element or blower.

Warning: Ground faults are serious safety issues. If E09 or repeated GFCI trips persist, discontinue use and have the pump/heater unit professionally inspected or replaced.
