Possible Causes
Debris lodged in impeller, Scale buildup in pump housing, Worn pump bearings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the spa before any disassembly. Do not insert fingers into water ports.
- Check filter: Remove and inspect the filter cartridge. Replace if collapsed or heavily soiled.
- Inspect ports: Look into the suction and return ports for visible debris and remove with a plastic tool or gloved hand.
- Flush system: Drain the spa and flush the ports with clean water to dislodge hidden debris.
- Restart: Refill the spa, bleed air from the system, and run filtration. If the pump still only hums, the impeller may be seized or bearings worn.
- Replace pump: On most SaluSpa units, this requires replacing the pump/heater assembly or internal pump module.
Warning: Do not repeatedly power-cycle a seized pump; this can overheat the motor and wiring.
