Possible Causes
Insufficient insulation or spa cover leakage, Heater element partially scaled, Ambient temperature too low for rated heater capacity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep electrical components dry while adding insulation or covers.
- Use the insulated cover: Always keep the SaluSpa cover on and latched while heating. Heat loss from the surface is the main cause of slow heating.
- Add ground insulation: Place an insulating mat or foam board under the spa to reduce heat loss to the ground.
- Check for drafts: Shield the spa from wind using windbreaks or placing it in a more sheltered location.
- Descale heater: If you have hard water, run a descaling treatment and flush the system to remove mineral buildup on the heater element.
- Adjust expectations: In cold weather, portable spas may only raise temperature 1–2°C (2–4°F) per hour. Plan heating time accordingly.
Warning: Do not cover or insulate the pump/heater air vents; this can cause overheating.
