Possible Causes
Body oils, lotions, detergents from swimwear, Low calcium hardness, High total dissolved solids
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Foam itself is not usually dangerous but indicates poor water quality.
- Rinse bathers: Shower before using the spa and avoid lotions or oils.
- Rinse swimwear: Rinse swimsuits thoroughly in clean water without detergent before spa use.
- Use defoamer: Apply a spa-safe defoamer product as a temporary fix.
- Adjust chemistry: Check and adjust calcium hardness and sanitizer levels.
- Partial drain: Drain and refill part or all of the water if foam persists.
Warning: Do not use household soaps or detergents to clean the spa; they will cause excessive foaming.
