Possible Causes
Heater running without adequate water flow, Air lock after refill, Heater element damaged from previous dry-fire, Flow switch malfunction
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power immediately to prevent heater damage.
- Confirm water in spa: Ensure the spa is fully filled and that all jets and suctions are submerged.
- Bleed air: Loosen unions at the pump and heater to purge air until water flows steadily, then retighten.
- Inspect heater tube: Check for signs of overheating or discoloration on the heater housing. A burnt smell or bulging indicates prior dry-fire damage.
- Check flow switch: Verify that the flow switch is installed correctly and wired properly. A stuck switch can misreport flow.
If dy/DRY continues, the heater element may be damaged and should be tested with a meter and replaced as needed by a technician.
