Possible Causes

Severely restricted water flow through heater, Failed or shorted high-limit sensor, Heater stuck on due to welded relay, Control pack overheating in poorly ventilated equipment bay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power immediately. Do not attempt to reset repeatedly without finding the cause; damage to the heater and plumbing can occur.

  • Allow full cool-down: Leave the cover off and power OFF until the water temperature drops below 95°F (35°C).
  • Inspect filters and valves: Remove and clean or replace filters. Verify all slice valves are fully open and that there are no obstructions in the skimmer or suction fittings.
  • Check for pump operation: After cooling, restore power and observe whether the circulation pump starts. If it does not run or is noisy/humming, it may be seized or air-locked.
  • Inspect control pack ventilation: Ensure the equipment bay is not blocked by insulation or debris and that there is adequate airflow around the Saratoga Spas control pack.
  • Sensor check: Visually inspect the high-limit sensor and wiring at the heater tube. If the sensor is loose, corroded, or damaged, it should be replaced.

Persistent OHH indicates a serious fault in the heater circuit or sensors. Have a spa technician test the heater element, high-limit sensor, and control board relays.
