Possible Causes
Seized pump 1 motor, Water intrusion into pump motor, Shorted pump windings, Loose or burnt pump connector at control pack
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker. Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker.
- Inspect pump 1: Locate Pump 1 in the equipment bay. Check for visible leaks around the pump seal and for rust or water on the motor housing.
- Check shaft rotation: With power OFF, try to rotate the pump shaft or impeller (via the rear cooling fan) by hand. It should turn smoothly. If it is locked, the pump is seized.
- Inspect wiring: Verify that the pump 1 cable is firmly plugged into the correct receptacle on the Saratoga control pack and that there are no burn marks.
- Dry environment: If there has been a leak, dry the equipment bay and correct the leak before replacing the pump.
A seized or shorted pump must be replaced. Have a technician confirm motor amperage and install a Saratoga-compatible replacement pump.
